Blog Home » Book Review - The Jolly Christmas Postman by Janet & Allan Ahlberg (22nd December 2022)

This little book is a beautiful book that is a must at Christmas time.  The story follows the Jolly Postman on Christmas Eve as he delivers letters to some of our favourite fairy-tale characters.

Each page has an envelope with a letter, card or gift for each character.   Our boys loved this book when they were little, diving into each envelope to see what had been sent to each character.  A get-well jigsaw puzzle for Humpty Dumpty, who is in hospital and a postcard from the Big Bad Wolf.

This book is enchanting, and the illustrations are adorable.  Numerous activities can be undertaken with this book, including writing Christmas letters to each pupil’s favourite fairy-tale character or playing one of the games.  However, it is also just lovely at home to snuggle up on the sofa with your children and read this joyous book.
