Tory Kermeen is a Therapeutic Family Support Worker qualifying in 1999, and is registered with the HCPC.
She has worked in Children and Families Social Work throughout her career, working with children with disabilities, looked-after children, children on the at-risk register, in a CAMHS setting and in the last 7½ years in the field of adoption.
As well as a Diploma in Social Work, Tory has a Postgraduate Diploma in Family Therapy from the Tavistock Clinic, and is a fully Certified Theraplay® Practitioner.
Tory has also completed Level 1 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Since attending Level 1 (2013) and Level 2 (2015) Theraplay® training, Tory has applied Theraplay® techniques in providing MIM assessments and family Theraplay® to predominantly adopted children and their families. She also uses it in her preparation training of adopters in group settings.
In her work in adoption, Tory has assessed adopters, and supported them in becoming larger families through adoption. She has provided adoption support using a number of models of intervention but now predominantly uses Theraplay®, with some therapeutic life story work.
