Charlotte has worked in education since graduating from her teaching degree at Warwick University 2004.
She completed her Diploma in Play Therapy with Play Therapy UK (PTUK) in 2014 and has since become a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Charlotte has always worked in education, gaining experience in a variety of primary schools. She has worked across the whole primary age range, although for much of her teaching career she has been based in key stage one. In her own teaching, Charlotte has always used a range of strategies and approaches to meet the needs of all pupils.
As a class teacher, Charlotte was very aware of the challenges that children with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties face and it was her experiences of working with children who really struggled in the classroom that led Charlotte to look for additional ways to support them beyond the classroom. This led her to begin training as a Play Therapist.
In her Play Therapy, she uses a child-centred approach, and is particularly interested in the areas of attachment theory and trauma. Charlotte combines her extensive teaching knowledge with her Play Therapy skills to meet the needs of the children and young people.
Charlotte has also completed CAPA – Child Attachment Play Assessment and Intensive Filial Therapy.
