The Activity

Junior Cook Off Activity

Set out a space for the ingredients and utensils for your child. If the weather is nice, this activity is great to do outdoors.

Allow your child to add the different cooking ingredients in the mixing bowl and let them mix. Encourage them to fill the cupcake cases up with their creations and let them pretend to cook.

This activity is a fun and creative activity.  It can be a bit messy, whilst the children are learning their coordination skills.

(On one occasion with our children, we pretended that they had really made cakes by making some earlier and producing them when we had pretend-cooked their creations.)

The benefits of this activity:

  • build sensory awareness
  • increase imagination
  • to have fun
  • develop play skills
  • develop fine motor skills (needed for writing)
